Boxmarche announces partnership agreement with Dutch company Packable B.V. for the manufacturing and sale on the Italian market of Halopack, the first European cardboard food tray for MAP and Skin packaging.
Boxmarche will be the first company to launch this new and sustainable packaging on the Italian market by the end of 2019. The aim is to replace plastic trays currently used for meat, fish and ready-meal packaging with Halopack while preserving and enhancing shelf life of packed products.
Customizable or already available in different formats (MAP and Skin), Halopack is a pack made of up to 90% recycled cardboard and a thin glueless plastic film to ensure airtight seal. The film can be easily removed from the board, allowing consumers to recycle each component in its own waste stream. Unlike most plastic trays, Halopack can be printed on both sides to increase packaging’s communicative potential.
“We strongly believe Halopack to be the ultimate solution to the hardship of finding alternative and sustainable food packaging solutions”, Boxmarche ChairmanTonino Dominici said. “Halopack severely cuts down plastic use without affecting the product’s shelf-life performance. We think of Halopack as a strategic product, in line with our company growth targets and our innovation, creativity and sustainability values.”
Halopack first hit European market in 2015 and, since then, it has been successfully used by major players such as Marks & Spencer, Carrefour, Lidl and Coop (Netherlands).
